So here we are, January 3rd and the day after the eating season officially ends. As we look to the new year, it is often good to reflect back and what we did and what we could have done better. How did we do??? Well, it is hard to say. This was our 3rd eating season since its conception in 2006 and we continue to raise the bar. I know we could have done better. I really was hoping for a pig roast of some sort or a 6 or 7 bird turducken to grace our table. It didn’t happen. However, we did go through hundreds of pounds of meat and thousands of dollars of alcohol. No real casualties happened with family although no poor relationships were mended either. Here is how I would rate our season:

New Recipes Created – B- We could have done much better with this although the ultimate hangover breakfast was created in the final stretch of the season. We also created new twists with our stuffed breads and some other recipes as well.

Alcohol Consumption – A- couldn’t in my right mind give us an A or an A+ on this. Sure I think there was only 4 days total where I did not have a drink but we could have done much better. I slight my grade based on the fact that I drifted back to wine for a good portion of the season. I did however consume quite a bit of Peach Street Distilleries products as well as some of our favorite local breweries

Weight Gained - C Gained 10 lbs in 8 weeks. This really was sad. I was quite active in skiing, hiking, and such but I should have at a minimum put on 15 or even 20 lbs. I mean, what a slacker. Next year I will really try to improve this with an added 50 lbs of bacon to the menu and more summer sausage. Maybe rendered duck fat wrapped in chicken skin as well. Oooo, that sounds good.

Season Score – B – We did release our first show during this season and throw one hell of a Christmas Eve party but there is many things we could improve on. Check back next year when we continue to raise the bar and climb the ladder.

Overall. I am very happy with this year and and going to cut back slightly but not too much as the NFL playoffs are here and eating is still in full swing. After all, what good would it be to try to lose all of that added fat in the middle of winter when you need it most? If you want to share a story please comment on our articles. Til then, happy new year and happy eating.
