Today was done right. Recipes to follow but I am too stuffed to write all this out right now. Just wanted to give an overview of the day. The day was intended to be the “game” game where we eat wild game and watch the game but deep fryer interests took over.

Breakfast:
3 cups of Coffee with Irish Creme
3 pancakes drowned in syrup

Rest of Day (it was non stop eating)
2 smoked quail wrapped in bacon
2 duck breasts smoked and wrapped in bacon
1/4 smoked pheasant
1 lb of elk roast marinated in red wine, whiskey, and Worcestershire sauce
5 deep fried oreos
2 deep fried pickles
onion rings dipped in ranch
blue cheese
Spinach dip with Triscuits
Chips with ranch dip
3 sodas
Sausage Queso Dip
Goat Cheese
Deep fried Peach
Deep fried bananas covered in Chocolate Sauce

And the kicker – Deep fried peanut butter, jelly, marshmallow, and reese’s pieces sandwich covered in pancake batter, then topped with powdered sugar, maple syrup, and chocolate syrup. It was really Good. I wish I had the calorie count for this day. The goose I have marinating never made it to the grill like it was suppose too. Anyone want to guess what I am having for dinner tomorrow night?

What a weekend to say the least. Three days and three serious eating and drinking events. I feel like I just got back from a three day cruise in which the minimum calorie consumption was 8000 a day. It all started on Friday night with our Annual Snowdown parade and CookManFood party to kick it off. We deep fried a turkey that came out amazing. Smoked turkey was also at the event courtesy of Sunnyside meats and they were also amazing enought to bring some of thier pepperoni and summer sausage which is all top notch. We drank some fine Bourbon from Peach Street Distilleries as well as some Corazon tequila. Ok, I drank all the Corazon Tequila. It was a great night and it was great to catch up and see some old friends as well as make some new ones. We got great feedback about what we are trying to do at cookmanfood and we put out as many new products such as the line from Miss Anna’s and Captain Spongefoot for everyone to sample. This was our third year in a row doing this event and they just keep getting better and better.

On Saturday my friend Chris and I were going to enter the Snowdown Chili Cook Off. We decided last minute that spending the kind of time and money on the ingredients to make the chilis and hanging around with people that we do not know was not a good use of resources. So…..We created an event of our own. We did the first annual skeet shoot off and chili competition. We had six entries show up for the clay competition and we had 5 entries for chili. We went through cases of wine and beer as well as had a blast shooting not necessarily in that order. I say this is an annual event but it is going to be more like a bi-monthly event as we all decided a year would be to long before doing this again.

Sunday was the Super Bowl as many of our readers should already have known and that means more food and more drinks. Again we hung out with close friends and ate a ton of food. On the menu was smoked ribs and sausage as well as blackened cajun shrimp. There was also a ton of other food to speak of. I really can’t belive that Pittsburg did not cover the line but then again, Arizona has been killing many gamblers this post season.

I love to push the limits with food. With that, I get the opportunity to be extremely creative and channel my tastes and my passion for food into new and amazing dishes. I also have an extreme respect for others who do the same. Today I got sent two articles. One was just released in the NYTimes about The Bacon Explosion. I would link to the NY Times but I love where this article first came from. I heard about this over month ago from BBQ Addicts. http://www.bbqaddicts.com/blog/recipes/bacon-explosion/

I love the creativity and the desire to push the limits. At the same time, because I am often referred to as “One of the most competitive people they have ever known” I am upset that I did not think of that first. Either way. BBQ Addicts is a great site and I am sure our paths will cross one day. Maybe we can combine a preperation of the Bacon Explosion on the top of Denali or something. Hmmm.

The second article that was sent to me was about the ultimate super bowl snack. http://www.holytaco.com/ultimate-super-bowl-snack-stadium. Thanks Tim for the link. I love the idea. I am not sure about the Twinkies but then again, this is highly creative and something to be built upon. I am going to toss this around for the next day or so and see what I can do. As your standard “sports junkie” I will be attending a Super Bowl party as well. I am thinking of an Atkins version of this or maybe something slightly less greasy. As many of my friends know, I don’t like to mix my sweets with my savories but lets see what we can do. What do you think?

Another NFL season is coming to a close and as sad as that is, I thought it would be fitting to have another get together with friends, drink, eat, and watch the games. Although the games did not turn out at all like I thought, they did get pretty intersting and were hard hitting. By the end of the first game, everyone who attended was absolutely stuffed. Here is the menu:

Spinach Artichoke Dip
Pepperoni, sauage, and steak bread stuffed with three cheeses and jalepenos
Beef Tacos
Asian Marinade Chicken with Cole Slaw
Shrimp Cocktail with Miss Anna’s Sweet and Sassy Sauce

Drinks:
Ska True Blonde Ale
Ska ESB Ale
Tequila shots (Even when teams we were rooting for were losing)
