Miss Anna’s – Sweet and Sassy Sauce

When my partner met a representative from Miss Anna’s hot sauce down at the Fiery Foods Festival in Albuquerque, NM, we knew that we wanted to build a relationship with this company.  Not only are they extremely generous and friendly and passionate about their products, but they have every reason to be as all of their products are top notch.  The company hails out of the small tropical island of St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands and they have a lineup of sauces that are full of flavor and range from no heat to giving me the hiccups. The first sauce I am reviewing is their Sweet and Sassy Sauce and not because it was my favorite, but because I was blown away at the flavor and the many uses that it had.  This sauce is vinegar and tomato based sauce that has a few exotic ingredients such as beet sugar and white wine which are not traditionally found in bottled sauces. Despite its lack of heat, it has jalapeño peppers and cayenne red peppers in it.  This sauce is just like its name, “sweet” but not too sweet. There is not much heat present, but it does have a tiny kick at the end.   I fell in love with this sauce the first time I tried it.  I tried this with a cocktail shrimp appetizer and it was a perfect fit.  The Sweet and Sassy is the only sauce I will use for cocktail shrimp now. I have also used this on sausages, with eggs, even on a hot dog and it has yet to fail me.  I highly recommend picking up a bottle or two.  We should be carrying this in our store soon but in the meantime, check out http://www.missannashotsauce.com/
